SGN SportsCard Baseball Instructions:

Overview:

Each game consists of nine innings. In the top half of the inning the Visitor Team is at bat, in the bottom the Home Team is at bat. The team that is pitching the ball is marked with a baseball icon next to the score.

The game uses a special deck of cards representing plays that happen during real baseball games. The player chooses a card to make a play that would help their team. When at bat, the player should choose cards that advance the runners. When in the field the player should choose cards to end the other teams scoring potential.

Each player has three cards at all times to choose from that are facing up. The player may also have up to three cards facing down to choose from.

The Visitor Team is at bat first. The Home Team is Blue, the Visitor Team is red.

Playing the Game:

At the top of the inning the Visitor Team is at bat. The Visitor Team selects a card first. A new card is dealt to replace the one they chose. Next the Home Team plays a card. This cycle continues until the Visitor Team has three outs.

At the bottom of the inning the Home Team is at bat. Card selection continues as with the top of the inning until they also have three outs. The Inning then ends and the game then continues until at least 9 innings have been played.

Sometimes a Relief Pitcher/Pinch Hitter card is dealt. When this happens, a facing down card is dealt and a new face up card is dealt to replace it. A player may have up to three facing down cards at a time. The can play a facing down card on any of their turns but they have no idea what is on the card.

After the third and sixth innings the cards are shuffled. The facing down cards are not collected and shuffled. If the game goes over 9 innings the cards are shuffled after the ninth and again every three innings.

Winning the Game

The game ends after nine innings and the score is not tied. If the Home team is winning after the top of the ninth the game ends early. If the score is tied after the ninth inning the game continues until an inning ends with one team having a higher score than the other.

The Cards:

Cards that advance base runners have a blue border, those that cause outs have a red border. Cards that advance runners have a blue triangle in the top left corner. The number of blue triangles denotes how many bases they will run. Cards that cause outs have a red x in the corner. If a card causes more than one out there is an additional red x.
